Store candles in boxes supplied to avoid damage and dust contamination. Store at normal room temperature. Never store candles near a heat source or in an attic space.

All our candles are individually handmade and by design no two candles look exactly the same. The product photos offered on the site are Homeland Candles but for illustration purposes only. Bear in mind that when you light your candle the flame might flicker and possibly give off small amounts of smoke for a short period of time, this is normal and will stop as the wax pool widens.

A flickering flame is usually caused by disturbed air or if the wick is too long. Make sure that the candle is away from drafts such as windows, doors, or fans and trim the wick to under 1cm. Also bear in mind that when you light your candle the flame might flicker for a short period of time, this is normal and will stop as the wax pool widens.

For best results when burning candles read safety message located under each candle. However, to get the most out of your candle, we suggest that you burn your candle long enough to allow the melting wax pool get as near as possible to the edge of the candle. Burn candle for no more than 4 hours at a time.

When lighting for the first time trim wick to under 1cm before lighting and any time after this simply brake off the burnt section of the wick before lighting. This will leave you with just under 1cm wick. (The longer the wick the bigger the flame, the shorter the wick the smaller the flame….) All our candles burn an average of 7grams of wax per hour.

WARNING: NEVER LEAVE A BURNING CANDLE UNATTENDED

• Remove all packaging material including information labels before lighting candle.
• Never burn candles near flammable materials.
• Never burn candle in a confined container as the heat generated from the flame will cause candle to overheat & burn badly.
• Burn candle out of reach of children & pets.
• Always leave at least 10cm between burning candles.
• Candles may drip, so always burn candle on a non-porous heat resistant container to catch molten wax.
• Keep wick trimmed to below 1cm to prevent a smoking candle.
• Keep wax pool clear of debris.
• Burn candle in a ventilated area but away from drafts as drafts will cause candle to burn uneven and smoke.
• Never move or tip burning candle.
• Burn candle no more than 4 hours at a time.
• Never burn candle when wax is less than 2cm from the bottom.
• Never place/use candles near an open fire or heat source as the heat will cause candle to melt.
• Extinguish all candles when leaving a room or before going to sleep. Be sure the wick ember is no longer glowing.

WARNING: NEVER LEAVE MELTING FRAGRANCED WAX TART/MELTS UNATTENDED

• Always keep Wax-melts/Tarts out of reach of children.
• Remove all packaging material including information labels before melting tart.
• Never melt fragranced tarts near flammable materials.
• Melt tarts out of reach of children & pets.
• Never move or tip melting wax.
• Melt wax tarts for no more than 4 hours at a time.
• Place your Wax Tarts in a well-ventilated, approved potpourri or tart burner and never add water. These come in a variety of styles – Some use tea lights or low wattage bulbs and some are electric.
• Only use an approved tart burner and only use an approved tart burner warmer (Never use scented tea lights).
• Never use an oil warmer, heat on a stove or use any other non-certified tart appliance; they get too hot!
• Do not allow the flame to touch the underside of the melt bowl (part where the wax tart sits). There should be at least a two inch clearance or it could catch on fire. Some tea light tart burners are not made properly and do not allow enough distance between the flame and the melting bowl. Just because it’s called a tart burner doesn’t mean it’s a SAFE tart burner and there are many unsafe ones on the market. So please remember to check the clearance before purchasing one.
• Do not heat if the melting bowl contains less than 1/2″ of wax.
• If using an electric potpourri pot, always use one that has past EU safety standard.
• Never place wax melts near an open fire or near a heat source.

WARNING: WHEN BURNING TEA LIGHTS & USING OUR HURRICANE GLOW CANDLES. NEVER LEAVE A BURNING TEA LIGHT/NIGHT LIGHT OR HURRICANE GLOW CANDLE UNATTENDED.

• Remove all packaging material including information labels before lighting tea light candle.
• Never burn candles near flammable materials.
• Never place one hurricane glow candle on top of another while tea light is burning.
• Burn candle out of reach of children & pets.
• Always leave at least 3cm gap between hurricane glow candles.
• Make sure candles are placed on a level and solid surface.
• Candles may drip, so always burn candle on a non-porous heat resistant container to catch molten wax.
• Keep wax pool clear of debris.
• Burn tea light candle in a ventilated area but away from drafts as drafts will cause candle to burn uneven and smoke.
• Never move or tip burning candle.
• Only ever use 4 hour non-fragranced tea lights in our hurricane glow candles.
• Burn candle no more than 4 hours at a time.
• Never place candles near an open fire or heat source.

CORRECT USE OF REED DIFFUSERS AND SAFETY WARNING

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

• Remove the sealed cap. Insert the diffuser reeds into the bottle & spread them apart from each other. In a short time the diffuser reeds will absorb the fragrance & diffuse into the room.
• Periodically turn the diffuser reeds upside down & reinsert into the oil for a stronger fragrance release.
• Ensure that the bottle is placed on a flat, stable surface.
• Diffuser reeds and fragranced liquid are highly flammable so never place near a naked flame or a heat source.
• Never light a diffuser reed/stick. Always retain this information for future reference.

SAFETY WARNING:

• Keep out of the reach of children & pets.
• Avoid contact with skin & eyes.
• Never touch the diffuser reeds whilst product is in use.
• Never expose the product to extreme temperatures or a naked flame.
• Do not place on polished, painted, plastic, leather, fabric surfaces or on electrical appliances as accidental spillage may cause damage to certain material.
• People suffering from perfume sensitivity should not use this product.
• May cause an allergic skin reaction.
• If in contact with skin wash with soap & water. If skin reaction or rash occurs or contact with eyes get medical attention.

CANDLE SAFETY RULES AND EXPLANATION FROM THE NATIONAL CANDLE ASSOCIATION IN AMERICA.

• Always keep a burning candle within sight.
• Extinguish all candles when leaving a room or before going to sleep. Be sure the wick ember is no longer glowing.
• Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire. Keep burning candles away from furniture, drapes, bedding, carpets, books, paper, flammable decorations, etc.
• Keep burning candles out of the reach of children and pets. Trim candlewicks to ¼ inch each time before burning. Long or crooked wicks can cause uneven burning and dripping.
• Always use a candle-holder specifically designed for candle use. The holder should be heat resistant, sturdy, and large enough to contain any drips or melted wax.
• Be sure the candle-holder is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface. This can help prevent heat damage to underlying surfaces and prevent glass containers from breaking.
• Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.
• Always read and follow the manufacturer’s use and safety instructions carefully.
• Don’t burn a candle longer than the manufacturer recommends.
• Keep burning candles away from drafts, vents, ceiling fans and air currents. This will help prevent rapid, uneven burning, and avoid flame flare-ups and sooting. Drafts can also blow nearby lightweight items into the flame where they could catch fire.
• Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room. Don’t burn too many candles in a small room or in a “tight” home where air exchange is limited.
• Don’t burn a candle all the way down. Extinguish the flame if it comes too close to the holder or container. For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when 2 inches of wax remains or ½ inch if in a container.
• Never touch or move a burning candle or container candle when the wax is liquid.
• Never use a knife or sharp object to remove wax drippings from a glass holder. It might scratch, weaken, or cause the glass to break upon subsequent use.
• Place burning candles at least three inches apart from one another. This helps ensure they don’t melt one another, or create their own drafts to cause improper burning.
• Use a snuffer to extinguish a candle. It’s the safest way to prevent hot wax splatters.
• Never extinguish candles with water. The water can cause the hot wax to splatter and might cause a glass container to break.
• Be very careful if using candles during a power outage. Flashlights and other battery-powered lights are safer sources of light during a power failure.
